A blue gate to heaven behind this angel with curly hair is a great complimentary color scheme. I made these angels in 2009 originally to give to first responders who saved my life after a cardiac arrest. I have made them for hospice patients, the sick, and the hurting. I have been told they are a comfort and made the owner feel protected. There are highlights of gold fol on the posts and halo.
My work depicts very eclectic scenes in watercolor and usually exhibit surface texture in high contrast color. I enjoy experiments with color as it reacts to light and love chasing down a new texture technique: water on glass, a brick wall, fur and the like. I want to FEEL a painting with my eyes. I never really felt "accomplished" as a watercolorist until I could readily and confidently apply a technique for a visual effect I wanted to render. This, in my mind, takes years of consistent practice and some excellent mentors of which Minnesota has many. I have had the best commercial luck with paintings that look great from 15 FEET AWAY!
